Materials and devices for energy storage and management

Materials and devices for energy storage and management (6 credits)
Prof.E. Quartarone,
The course aims to illustrate some methods to address the energy problem, as an alternative to primary sources and in a sustainable way for the environment. For several issues, alongside the presentation of the state of the art, we illustrate recent developments related to the chemical structure and functional properties of the various materials and their effects on the respective devices. In addition, efficiencies, advantages and differences in their possibilities in relation to energy management are discussed briefly. The proposed themes concern electrochemical devices, the use of solar energy, storage and energy saving (hydrogen, thermoelectric) and electrochemical gas sensors.
Oral exam.
