Research and Nanomedicine

Research and Nanomedicine
Lecturers: Prof. Piersandro Pallavicini (Department of Chemistry); Silvia Rossi, Giuseppina Sandri, Carla Caramella (Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences); Livia Visai (Department of Molecular Medicine); Gabriella Bottini (Department of Brain and Behavioral Science).
When: may-june.
Development of systems based on nanoparticles: classification and methods of preparation of different systems, characterization of their physico-chemical and drug delivery properties. Improvement of drug biopharmaceutical properties (S. Rossi, G. Sandri): 4 hours; Properties of nanoparticles influencing their interaction with cells and organs; properties of nanoparticles allowing their use in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques (P. Pallavicini): 6 hours; Introduction to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, development of nanostructures and nanosystems and study of cell adhesion processes (L. Visai): 3 hours; Introduction to Neuroscience: Principals, classifications, methodologies. From the molecular level and the interaction between Nanomedicine and Neuroscience to the neurobiology of complex behaviors (G. Bottini): 3 hours. In the course is included a single-day workshop “Research and Nanomedicine” that will feature lectures (invited speakers) and short communications (speakers of University of Pavia) on researches and case studies in the nanomedicine area, given by researchers belonging to the two macroareas to which belong the three organizing doctorate schools: 8 hours.
Final exam: written examination with closed-ended answers
